Taos Time Bank Member Agreement

Welcome! Taos TimeBank is designed to encourage connections between community members on the basis that everyone has something to give and everyone has needs. TimeBank members commit to "give and receive" using Time Credits earned and spent. The "golden rule" of TimeBanking is this: An hour of my time is equal to an hour of any other member. One hour of service given earns one time credit; and one hour of service received requires the transfer of one time credit to the giver.

By registering as a Member and accepting this Member Agreement, you agree to the following:

Member Code of Conduct:

  • Respect other members’ privacy and confidentiality.
  • Respect other members’ viewpoints and do not pressure another participant to accept your religious beliefs or political views.
  • Respect other members through appropriate actions. Any behavior that appears to be threatening, predatory, inappropriate or unsafe may be grounds for the Time Bank to suspend or revoke a members’ right to engage in the Time Bank.
  • Always treat other participant’s possessions respectfully. For example, do not consume a member’s food and drink, unless invited to do so. Do not use any possessions of the member, including the bathroom or telephone, unless given clear permission to do so.
  • Respect a no-smoking/drug/alcohol policy while in a member’s home or venue during any time exchange. Do not engage in Time Bank activity while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Do not ask for or accept money, gifts, or tips from other members.

Expectations Regarding Exchanges:

  • Active, Interdependent Engagement: As a member of this TimeBank, you are part of an interdependent community of giving and receiving that makes a difference, together. When we all earn and spend credits, it creates a vibrant service economy and gives everyone the chance to give and receive in equal measure. Without each of us both giving and receiving, this two-way exchange cannot work,. We expect you to both give and receive, and make exchanges often. Please don’t sign up if you are not going to use the Time Bank actively.
  • Dependability: Whether you are a giver or receiver of an exchange, please follow through. Give as much notice as possible if you need to change or cancel an exchange you had committed to do.
  • Healthy and Safe Activity: The safety of all TimeBank members is paramount. If you have any concerns or doubts when asked to carry out an assignment, consider contacting your platform administrator.
  • Good Judgement and Self Care: Do not put yourself at risk. If you are not comfortable or do not feel something is safe to do, don’t do it. If you are worried about visiting another member on your own, in the dark or in a particular area, don’t do it. If anything sets off alarm bells, trust your instinct and position yourself for an easy exit. As appropriate, discuss any concerns with your platform administrator.
